the Dinner
The end of the tournament doesn’t mean it’s the end of the day. The fun continues when thirsty and hungry players gather for the monthly Bay Area Tennis Society (BATS) dinners where we celebrate the winners of the tournament and chat with tennis friends.
Dinners are held in various lively settings such as members’ patios, festive restaurants, or balmy parks from January through September. Meals are always catered for picnics and home events. When we dine at restaurants the menu is selected in advance, and we are seated in a secluded part of the restaurant allowing us to move about and visit with each other.
BATS’ hard working Social Director selects dinner locations and menus many weeks in advance enabling the players and guests to relax with a glass of wine and other refreshments during the BATS Happy Hour. Dinner prices are established in advance by the Social Director as he/she negotiates costs with the caterer or restaurant. The costs are shared equally by everyone who participates. BATS does not seek to raise money through our tennis events. BATS supplies wine, beer, and sodas at all dinners except those held in restaurants.
After dinner we thank our volunteers, announce future events and award prizes. Good eating and good company after tennis is important and a major part of our tournament day.
